Pulp and Paper Mill Process Improvement
Objective: Our client needed to optimize their mill and came to Hargrove to perform the engineering for a O2 Delignification Project.
Hargrove performed a mill balance using WINGEMS, which allowed the team to design the system that included an Oxygen Stage Reactor, two new Wash Presses, medium consistency pumps, centrifugal pumps, and associated ancillary equipment between the DD washer and bleach plant. The system allowed cooking to a higher K number in the digesters and sending pulp at a lower K number to the bleach plant resulting in steam savings in the digesters and chemical savings in the bleach plant. The project successfully reduced effluent color, BOD, AOX, flow, total dissolved solids, and nutrients. It also reduced shower water to brown stock washing, resulting in steam savings in the evaporators.
