Hargrove remains committed to our clients beyond design engineering throughout the life of the plant to ensure optimal plant operations and reliability.

Chlor-Alkali Expertise & Capabilities

Hargrove’s chlor-alkali Team works on chlor-alkali projects daily – continuously assisting clients with both capital projects and maintenance activities.

Hargrove has experience designing and modifying each of these plant types:

  • Type I – Liquid Chlorine
    • Can include HCl and bleach
  • Type II – Hydrochloric Acid
    • Producing only HCl requires supplemental H2 source or bleach decomposition
    • Can also produce bleach to consume additional Cl2
  • Type III – Bleach only
    • Also known as a salt to bleach plant

Each type has various production constraints and feed requirements to the auxiliary product units. We have performed product optimization studies to verify production capacities in various operating modes.

In 2021, Hargrove committed to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). As part of this commitment, Hargrove developed a sustainability plan focused on our environment, labor, human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement with a monitoring system that is designed to drive continuous improvement of these footprints and practices.

OUR DEDICATION TO THE CHLOR-ALKALI INDUSTRY

Hargrove’s chlor-alkali Team works on chlor-alkali projects daily – continuously assisting clients with both capital projects and maintenance activities. We have developed an expansive repository of industry-specific standards, specifications, and design tools which allows us to work efficiently and effectively. This experience and library help to minimize engineering cost and schedule.

Our membership in the Chlorine Institute provides access to the CI pamphlets, which equips Hargrove with the latest industry best practices for process and transportation safety. Additionally, Hargrove participates in the annual CI meetings, where we gain significant knowledge from technical presentations and networking with industry peers.

Hargrove’s Team of process engineers includes teammates with chlor-alkali operational experience. Design input from their direct field experience helps ensure safety in design and ease of startup, operations, and reliability post-startup.

Hargrove remains committed to our clients beyond design engineering throughout the life of the plant to ensure optimal plant operations and reliability.
